Bruce McElhaney was born and raised in Clarksville, a small farm community in North Central Iowa. Bruce grew up in a large family which included 5 sisters and 1 brother, several of them also being Veterans. He grew up playing sports, working on area farms, and attended church regularly with his family. Bruce grew up as a Christian in the Lutheran faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in his early 20s. After graduating high school Bruce enlisted in the United States Army on the delayed entry program. He served for 6 years as a Telecommunication Center Operator (combat) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina with the 35th Signal Brigade (Airborne). He served in many different locations stateside as well as in Central America during Ahuas Tara II near the Nicaraguan border in the early 1980s and reached the rank of Sergeant (E-5).
After leaving the US Army in the spring of 1988, Bruce entered the Insurance Profession and spent 23 years in sales & executive management. He also has launched and still owns several home based businesses and has a strong entrepreneurial spirit. In 2009 Bruce left the Insurance profession to take on the Caregiver role in his family when their Son was injured in the Army and became bedridden for about 2 years. While working in the Insurance profession, he was also active in helping our Nation’s Veterans in various ways such as providing housing assistance and food for homeless Veterans, helping Veterans file VA claims, etc. He rode in many funeral escorts and took part in many Military Funerals over the years. In 2006 McElhaney joined the AMVETS or American Veterans organization in which he is a Life Member. In late 2006 he became involved in helping the AMVETS organization with the AMVETS Riders. He worked his way up the ranks of the AMVETS Riders and in 2011 – 2012 because the National President.
Bruce McElhaney has been married to his wonderful wife Debra for 19 years and they reside in Grand Prairie, Texas with their 2 fur babies. They have 4 grown children. He currently serves as the Co-Founder and Vice President of the Spartan Action Network.
Bruce McElhaney is still passionate about and enjoys serving his fellow man, his Brother and Sister Veterans and First Responders. He is active in raising money for charitable causes and organizations. Bruce has been sought as a public speaker, co-hosts a Veteran related radio show, loves attending entrepreneur business networking events and creating mutually beneficial business and well as personal relationships.
For his work, both in the business and Veteran world, has received many awards such as the Army Achievement medal and Good Conduct medal from the US Army, a proclamation from the City Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee, Outstanding Leadership award from the Unit of Prosperity, and numerous letters of appreciation and recommendation from various Veteran related organizations.
